SPECIAL STATEMENT FROM THE PASTOR AND ELDERS OF OASIS CHURCH
Good morning Oasis Family...
What a beautiful spring-like Friday we were blessed with yesterday...hard to believe that SPRING is only one week away.
I did not expect until the last day or so that I would be making the statement that I’m about to make. But it’s a reminder to us that events can change, and that CHRIST truly is our ROCK and safe place.
The scriptures speak loudly and clearly to us above the noise of fears and great anxiety that many are experiencing:
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust,’ For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.” PSALM 91: 1-3
Therefore, it is not out of fear, but in the light of the ever increasing risk-potential of, and our desire to minimize exposure to the highly contagious COVID-19 virus threat...
...as well as out of a desire to love our neighbors, contribute to the general well-being, safety, and health of our fellow citizens in Amherst County and beyond, beginning with our own families and our own faith family of Oasis Church...
...as well as out of a desire to honor and obey the urgent advisements of our government authorities on local, state and federal levels, whom the Scriptures declare God has placed over us for our good...
...that the Pastor and elders of Oasis Church have decided to suspend this coming Sunday morning’s service, along with any and all related gatherings of children’s classes, or meetings of any kind. We are also suspending all church-related gatherings this forth-coming week, which would include both of our women’s Coffee Time events and Student Ministry gatherings, as well as all gatherings of our Life Groups.
Although on the one hand, it is an extremely invaluable thing to gather and pray, on the other hand we regard it as not only very prudent in the light of present circumstances, but also the very best way that we could greatly love our neighbor on a very practical level, by NOT meeting together...it seems obvious to us a very loving thing to do.
We will constantly be monitoring the current ever-evolving health crisis, with all of the related official public statements and advisements published through the various news media by our health and government agencies. We will be using these to help us make decisions regarding our future Sunday and other related gatherings on a week by week basis, as we constantly trust the Lord to guide us by His wisdom and counsel...as we are blessed and charged by our Lord Jesus to very prayerfully watch over your souls and shepherd you precious ones that are a part of this Oasis Church body.
If you could possibly contribute to our church’s food pantry, this would help us to bless any in need in our community, as potential food shortages could become a greater reality as well. You may drop off any dry or canned goods to the church office Tuesday-Thursday, 8am-4pm.
Further and most importantly, please remember to remain faithful to your giving toward the work of God’s Kingdom through the Oasis ministry, although we are not meeting in our regular gatherings for a brief season. You may give online by going to our website at oasischurchlive.com,
and then clicking on... <https://www.oasischurchlive.com/online-giving>. Thank you so deeply for remembering the continuing needs of this ministry!
Finally, we strongly encourage each of you to please regard any extra time you have at home during this time as a true gift from the Lord, and to be intentional in enjoying refreshing seasons together as a family, sharing Bible and prayer time with your kids and grandkids, and having special and creative fun times together, throwing the phone and devices aside for a little while.
Our prayers and hearts are constantly with you. Please let us know if there is any need that we can assist you with.
Under His Wings!
