George “Bubba” Rose was reared in a Christian home in Lincolnton, North Carolina. He is so grateful to be a 5th generation Christian with his grandfather, W.W. Rose being a pastor/evangelist. His father became a Christian when Bubba was 8 years old and dramatic changes occurred in their family life. At the age of 9, while attending his grandfather’s church meeting, he almost ran to the altar to ask Jesus to save him and come into his life.
At age 14 the family moved to Charlotte, N.C. where they attended Asbury Wesleyan Church. This church impacted his life greatly and from there he attended Appalachian State University obtaining a football scholarship as defensive tackle. God began to trouble his heart and convict him that his sole purpose in life was not football but was indeed to serve and follow God’s call into full-time ministry.
At the end of his sophomore year he left Appalachian State, married his college sweetheart, Nedra, and they moved to Wilmore, Kentucky in order to attend Asbury College and Seminary. God blessed them with three beautiful children: Monica Dawn Rose, Jeremy Paul Rose and Brady Nathaniel Rose. They served as a family in ministry to three churches in North Carolina over a span of 17 years. While traveling overseas in mission work, God called Bubba into full-time foreign mission work with Advancing Native Missions where he served as Operation Barnabas International Director which was a ministry involving the training of pastors and indigenous church planting missionaries. After serving for 7 years, they moved to West Cabarrus Church in Concord, N.C. to serve as Missions pastor. While there, God began stirring and calling Bubba to plant a church in Amherst, Virginia where they had formally lived during the time of their mission work.
He applied to the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention and was trained as a church planter. They moved back to Virginia on January 4, 2009 to begin the work God was calling them to fulfill. They are so thankful for their five beautiful grandchildren: Jeremy Paul Rose, Jr. “JJ”, Bethany Dawn Rose, Caleb Bradley Rose, Elsie Grace Rose, and Elizabeth Rose Brennan. They are so grateful to God that Monica, Jeremy and Brady are all following God’s call and dream for their lives.
